Gangs of Wasseypur 2” is a film directed by Anurag Kashyap and written by Zeishan Quadri. It is the sequel to the 2012 hit “Gangs of Wasseypur”, also directed by Anurag Kashyap, which won prizes at Cannes film festival. The film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Varun Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Jatin Sarna and Huma Qureshi. The movie releases on 15th June 2017 in India. The story is based on revenge and family feud between two mafia dons, Sardar Khan (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) and Ramadhir Singh (Tigmanshu Dhulia). Sardar Khan is the founder of the Faizal world, who killed Ramadhir's father and uncle and took their ill-gotten wealth and power. Ramadhir arrives at Wasseypur to avenge the death of his father and uncle. He starts to plot his revenge against Sarder by trying to take over all of his criminal businesses. This film focuses on the events that happened in between these two films i.e., during or after "Gangs of Wasseypur 1" . A. R. Rahman composed the score and also worked on the songs with singers Arijit Singh, Shreya Ghoshal, Sonu Nigam and Kailash Kher. The "Gangs of Wasseypur 2" was released worldwide in 3500 screens in India, 1000 screens overseas and 840 screens in Indian diaspora. It was given a U/A certificate by the censor board of India. It was released on Netflix worldwide on June 15th 2017. "Gangs of Wasseypur 2" has collected ₹33 crores in India in its opening weekend, which was the then highest ever collection for a Hindi film. However, it faced criticism from the critics as well as popular movie reviewers for its "slow pace" and "unoriginal script". The film earned 10 crores at the end of its first week in India, making it the fourth-highest earning Hindi film after "Happy New Year", "Simmba" and "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo". It also earned 18 crores at the end of second week becoming fifth-highest earning Hindi film. By 19th June 2017, it had collected 21 crores at box office. By 21st June 2017, it had collected 30 crores at the Indian box office. It suffered a huge drop in collections in its 3rd week, but still managed to retain the position of the top movie of the year. By 4th July 2017, it had collected 42 crores at box office making it 2018's second highest grossing film at that time behind "Avengers: Infinity War" which earned 54 crores. By 7th July 2017, it was declared as 5th highest-grossing Hindi film of all time. By 18th July 2017, it was declared as 6th highest-grossing Hindi film of all time after earning 43 crores. cfa1e77820
