Joseph "Joey" Lalli (born July 8, 1973) is an American serial killer who was convicted of the murders of two young women.
Early life
Lalli was born in Queens, New York. He was raised by his mother, Dorothy, after his parents divorced when he was four years old.
Lalli dropped out of high school in the ninth grade and ended up working in a grocery store.
Murders
Lalli murdered his first victim in 1994 when he was 22 years old. In 1999 he murdered his second victim, an 18-year-old who lived in the same Queens neighborhood where he had lived as a child. She was found strangled in her apartment.
After being arrested for the murder of his second victim, Lalli was re-arrested for the murder of Denise DeCaro, a victim he had already been convicted of strangling in 1994. DeCaro had been killed in 1996. Her body had been found in 1997 wrapped in a black plastic bag. She had been strangled and shot.
Trial and conviction
In June 2004, Lalli was convicted of the murders of DeCaro and another woman, Louise Fusco.
He was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison. He currently resides in the William C. Gantz Correctional Center in Suffern, New York.
